Dogs with a high energy level very often are not satisfied with just having a walk once or twice a day.
Especially a working dog breed was bred for a purpose, ie shepherds, retrievers, gundogs etc. These and many others were bred to do a job on a daily base.
Over generations they were doing their jobs with determination and contentment.
For example:
People get a Bordercollie, German Shepherd, Labrador, Retriever and think the dog is satisfied with a daily walk and the rest of the day it is in and around the house and bored. A dog in such a situation is storing more and more energy and has no valve to let it out, because it has no job.
If the dog then developes a great deal of frustration the people are surprised.
I came across these problems many times during my dog training years.
